The Brownstone is one of 7 well-spaced Montana vacation cabins on our 260 acre homestead. It is ideal for couples, or the perfect sanctuary for older mom's and dad's if their younger children/grandchildren are staying in one of our other cabins. The cozy Brownstone has a full kitchen, bed and bath and seating area. But if you feel like going out, there are casual cafes, white linen tablecloths, a cool downtown scene with western bars and an eclectic mix of music in Whitefish, MT.
The storied past echoes throughout the valley. Abbott Valley is named after a trapper named Abbott who had a homestead claim in this area during the late 1890’s. Even the the present day historical cabins date back to 1910.
Spend your days on Glacier National Park trails, or maybe your trail to adventure starts on horseback - horseback riding is the perfect way to access trails and explore Sperry Glacier or other beautiful surroundings. At the end of the day, the two of you will return to a peaceful cabin in the woods for the best sleep of your life.
Our Brownstone Cabin was home to our great grandmother who hauled water from the creek nearby. After being used to shelter storage items, we completely remodeled the original cabin complete with a huge wrap around deck in its own private woods in 2008.
The Abbott Valley homestead is crossed by North and South Abbott Creeks. North Abbott is a fast, cold mountain stream and South Abbott is slower moving and meanders through the meadows. You might also see our family working the homestead, plus horses and cattle roaming. After the 4th of July we hay all of the meadows prior to moving in cattle and horses. Ask us about the beaver ponds in the woods, and other area attractions. We enjoy extending our local knowledge to our guests.
For a day away from your Montana home away from home, there is no need for a compass, just pick a direction and let the fun begin! Head to West Glacier to the west entrance of Glacier Park which encompasses 1,600 square miles; awe-inspiring mountain peaks; mystic waterfalls; rushing streams and glaciers! Find yourself in crags and canyons that reach straight up, and maybe catch a glimpse of a bighorn sheep or herd of elk. Or enjoy lunch at the majestic Lake McDonald Lodge.
Other roads lead to the best fishing, cycling, canoeing, kayaking and river rafting in the country. Ask about these and the 9 golf courses nearby. The Big Mountain Ski and Summer Resort is open both summer and winter.
Other attractions are the Salish/Kootenai Indian Reservation and Cultural Center, Museum of the Plains Indians in Browning, and the National Bison Range is with the trip. The Flathead National Forest contains a multitude of trails, lakes and streams.

Kathy Aurich Kramer Beautiful quiet place. Loved it. Should have stayed the whole week there!! Walked on the trails and saw Mule deer. I would highly recommend Abbott Valley!! Thanks Doyle.
Nancy Stobel Excellent winter getaway! Peaceful and relaxing by a cozy fire or great exercise snowshoeing through the meadow. The rustic charm of the cabins takes you back to a simpler time and place and reminds you of the joy of simple conversation. The collected stories of the early day homesteaders of the canyon area are a delight. Shake the winter blahs and spend some time in the sunshine of Abbott Valley Homestead.
