Glen, MT cabins and ranches near Dillon and Butte, on the Big Hole River offer some memorable cabin time. An isolated town hidden in the rocky mountain valley between Big Hole River and the Beaverhead River. These two rivers make up the best fishing in Montana. Record breaking trout reaching anywhere from three to six pound trout. This stretch of river can also be followed by visitors that wish to follow a piece of history on the Louis and Clark Expedition as they met up with members of the Shoshone tribe to acquire more horses by way of the Beaverhead Rock Formation. This did indeed, lead them to the tribe of Sacajawea’s brother’s Shoshone tribe.
Enjoy many outdoor activities such as the trails for hiking and biking, ATVs and snowmobiles. These trails stretch throughout the southwest corner of Montana and wind through mountains, wrap around lakes, and snake around valleys. This is quite possibly the most beautiful area to vacation in. Before you head out though, be sure to hit up the Patagonia Outlet store for all of your appropriate outdoor gear for fly fishing, hunting, hiking and skiing.
Glen is a perfect community that is right off the highway, making it easy to travel around this corner of the state. This is perfect if you want to experience many of the county’s other gems such as ghost towns like Clinton, Montana. Other mining towns populate this area, giving you an experience of what life was like back in the mining days. Or, you can experience the Continental Divide by strapping on a bag to your back and exploring the Italian Peaks nearby. Get a feel for the Old West and check out the many state parks and locations that highlight these times. Bannack State Park has a terrific history of when the good guys win against the bad guys (which happen to be the fixtures of the law at that time). History can be brought to life again during the annual Bannack Days.
Be on the lookout for crystals or even amethyst scepter at Crystal Park or witness “Montana’s Biggest Weekend” at the Dillon Jaycee Rodeo and Parade for Labor Day. This attraction ropes in some of the America’s finest top riders and ropers for 3 days of thrill against some of the toughest Rodeo stock in the country. Tip back a cold brew at the Beaverhead Brewing Company. The history of this brewery anything but modest as it was started before the prohibition. So, sip on a brew and enjoy a view, because the beauty of the area will overwhelm your senses.
Make sure you talk to rental owners about the many Glen seasonal events and day trips. Compare cabins and Glen ranch lodging here, then book DIRECTLY with the rental owners. Why risk paying extra commissions and fees found on big booking websites.
